I'm a recently-converted new disciple of a beautiful, hilarious, and awesome, band called DOUBLE DONG AND WYLD LIXX.

They opened for David Cross at Irving Plaza last week (how cool is it that bands are now opening for comedians...).  Anyway, I was feeling a little cranky.  We had been standing around waiting for the show to start for 2 hours, and weren't looking forward to an opening band. We were ready for the "real show" to start.

That all changed about half a second after DD+WL took the stage. I was in awe, in love, and frankly, a little jealous. Just when I thought all New York bands were starting to look and act and sound the same, "Double Dong" came as a refreshing surprise. The show was part glam, part gay, part rock, part cock, part funny "ha ha" and part funny "queer". I can't adequately describe the rest.  You can read this Village Voice review, or go see their next show.

See The Psychos! play at Luxx on January 30th. I'm not going to tell you again. I'll be there. The Psychos! will be there. My landlord will be there. It will be rock in it's purest, stabbingest form.  If that's not reason enough, here's 10 more reasons from Johnny Murder.

Finally, your chance to see centro-matic play live in New York has come at last. They'll be at the Mercury Lounge on February 5, and at North 6th in Brooklyn on Feb 6th. Still haven't heard their latest CD? Well, click here and win your very own copy in this month's ART-ROCK QUIZ.

Email your answers and the first one to get them all right will win the prize! (Members of Centro-matic may enter the contest, but will win a different prize).

Next issue will feature Dallas band Mission Giant, and whatever else you might suggest, or submit. Get busy, losers!

Rocking you like a hurricane,
