David Cross

David Cross is awesome

You know David Cross. The comedian. The actor. The writer/producer/everything else. The bald guy--no, the CUTE bald guy. He's half the talent behind "Mr. Show with Bob and David" and he's half responsible for bringing Tenacious D to audiences everywhere via HBO. Soon he'll be starring in a "Mr. Show" sketch-turned feature-film, "RUN RONNIE RUN (The Ronnie Dobbs Story)".

I'd been trying to email David for a while, but all the email addresses I found led nowhere.  Finally, I met David at a STELLA show, and he agreed to be interviewed. I think this is the most questions we've ever sent anyone. He was sweet and answered them all while listening to the new Hope Sandoval album...

SECTION I - Favorites:
kp: What was the first record you ever bought?
DC:
It was either The Who By Numbers, or The Sweet "Desolation Boulevard". I was a huge Who and Sweet fan, so there.

kp: What was the first concert you ever saw?
DC:
The Kinks at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. I was fifteen and my friend and I figured this way-too-easy scam to pull. We volunteered to be ushers. We brought a little uniform (black pants, white shirt, and red vest) and listened to the 45 minute "lesson". Once the opening act went on (a young man by the name of Johnny Cougar - pre "Mellencamp" days) we just ditched our vests and ran into the crowd never to be seen again. It was embarrassingly easy.

kp: What's your favorite Tenacious D song?
DC:
The 5 Needs (not on the album)

kp: What's your favorite Corn Mo song?
DC:
The first one I ever heard.  It was as if an angel whispered a life-saving lie into my earholes.

kp: What's your favorite Three Times One Minus One song?
DC:
2 True 4 U 2 C U + Me 2

kp: Favorite Janeane Garofalo
movie?
DC:
It hasn't come out yet but it's called "THE LATIN FROM MANHATTAN.
Janeane stars as one-time porn queen Vanessa Del Rio. The movie also features Ben Kingsley, Bill Paxton and an animated Rhea Perlman (Mrs. Danny DeVito)

kp: Favorite Clint Howard movie?
DC:
COTTON CANDY and it should be everyone else's favorite as well godammit!!
