TALES OF WONDER:
by Corn Mo

"Tales of Wonder" is a new column of stories from Jon Cunningham. You can also read them on the Corn Mo website.

Where's the Flagpole Buried?
2 guys eating cracklins' were stomping on the playground because chewing alone created boredom. While stomping, guy #1, Toby, punctured his foot, allowing the object to protrude through the top of his foot. It was pure metal. Toby started crying while guy # 2, Ben, freaked out, drank some pop, and freaked out some more.

A thundercloud above softened their eyes and gave them a calm to which they gave way to thinking. Ben cradled Toby's foot like the Prince and Cinderella and gently lifted it along the smooth metal, cone-like protrusion off the ground and gently set the foot on a wet patch of dirt made from a fat raindrop.

Soon, rain came down very hard sometimes hitting Toby's new foot hole and sometimes you couldn't tell Toby was crying because rain shared his face with tears.
