INTERVIEW: Jordan Knight
by Adam Coozer.

not-so-new kid jordan knight

I'll admit, I was always one of the slaggers of NKOTB. That really hasn't changed much (although I do like to "hang tough"). But to their credit, the (other) ladies sure did love 'em. READ Magazine's Adam Coozer started tracking them down, one by one, and here's what Jordan Knight had to say to him.

al: Your latest project is a New Kids remix album. What can you tell us about it?
jk:
The Remix project is a way to thank the fans for sticking around all these years and give the old hits a new twist (flava). It was fun and it came together quickly.

al: Are the songs, like, crazy drum n’ bass hardcore techno remixes, or are they fairly loyal to the originals?
jk:
The music is a nice mix of pop / r&b / and new school hip/hop. The vocal arrangements are very similar to the originals except "Hanging Tough".

al: How have you changed personality-wise from the NKOTB Jordan of 12-13 years ago?
jk:
More mature (I'm a dad now), and more focused on the business and showing what Jordan Knight can do.

al: Which NKOTB release are you least proud of? Which do you feel was your worst song?
jk:
The Christmas record / Funky Funky X-Mas

al: Besides the one where Donnie fell through the trapdoor, what was your worst gig?
jk:
That one...can't think of one… maybe some of the early shows in 87.

al: Who in the band was the least-talented?
jk:
Nobody...they all had special talents… Maybe my brother (HA).

al: Were there any choreographed dance moves that you just refused to do?
jk:
I don't want to do "The Right Stuff" dance anymore. It was fun for '89 but now it’s...”did I do that?” (ha).

al: Does it piss you off that NKOTB were slagged by the press in the early 90s, and yet a decade later, the same type of boy bands are now media darlings?
jk:
The press would slam us but the fact remains we had the most success and sold the most records in that time period. We were number one and the target of the critics. I'm still here after all these years, and they are the ones out of work.

al: Do you still speak with the other folks?
jk:
Still talk to all the guys: Danny helped me get my new deal; Joey just got married, was at the wedding in NYC; Donnie I talked with last week via cell; my brother I see on a regular basis.

al: What comes to mind when you hear the following: Power rock trio Rush:
jk:
good Rock!!

al: Britney Spears:
jk:
sexy and crazy

al: George W. Bush:
jk:
trying

al: Marky Mark:
jk:
What’s Up..Don't forget where you came from.

al: Thanks Jordan!
jk:
Thanks dude for the support.
